R. Kent Moseman, M.D.
 

       Dr. Moseman has practiced orthopedics in Bloomington since 1988. He graduated from the Indiana University School of Medicine in 1978, spent three years in general practice in Robbinsville,North Carolina, completed an orthopedic surgery residency in Greenville, South Carolina, then completed a fellowship in Children's orthopedics in Adelaide, South Australia. He was Board certified in 1990 and re-examined and certified in 2000. He is married to Toni, and has four children spanning ages twenty three to eight years. His interests outside of medicine include bicycling, outdoor work and amateur woodworking.

       He is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, member of the Indiana State Medical Association, and member and past president of The Indiana Orthopedic Society.

 



 
Mark O. Hansen, M.D.
 

Mark O. Hansen, MD is a native of Arizona who has found a “greener pasture” in beautiful southern Indiana.  He attended Brigham Young University and graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1982.  He graduated from George Washington University School of Medicine in 1987 and completed a Transitional Internship at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, DC.  He worked for two years as a Brigade Surgeon in Germany with the 3rd Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division.  He completed an Orthopedic Surgery Residency at Walter Reed in 1994 and was stationed at Ft. Benning, GA for two years prior to moving to Bloomington.  He is married to Cathlene Hardy Hansen and has three wonderful children, Hannah, Aaron, and Eli.  He enjoys sports, Bloomington’s cultural opportunities, and riding his tractor.  He is an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

 

 



 
Jonathan W. Surdam, M.D.
 

Dr. Jonathan Surdam’s roots start in Laramie, Wyoming.  Dr. Surdam obtained his undergraduate education at the Colorado College, in Colorado Springs, Colorado in 1994.  His medical education was completed at the Creighton University School of Medicine.  For the next five years, he studied Orthopaedic Surgery at the Boston Medical Center and Boston University and successfully completed his Orthopaedic Residency in 2003.  His training included fracture management, sports medicine, and general orthopaedics.  He followed this with a one year fellowship in Adult Reconstruction and Total Joint Replacement of the Hip and Knee under the direction of Richard E. White, Jr., M.D.  Dr. White was the president of the prestigious Hip Society during the fellowship and he learned a great deal regarding the management of the arthritic patient.  During the fellowship ,emphasis was placed on learning  state of the art techniques for Total Joint Replacement.  These techniques include minimally invasive surgical approaches to both the knee and the hip, the unicondylar knee replacement, the high flex/high demand total knee replacement, revision surgery and the care of the painful total joint. “ I am committed to maximizing my patient’s benefits from both surgical and non-surgical treatment.” 

Dr. Surdam is an avid Boston Red Sox fan, and enjoys golf and hiking.

He and his wife, Wendy, will be making Bloomington home.

 



 
Aaron J. Mast, M.D.

Dr. Mast was born and raised near Wabash, Indiana. He attended Butler University where he obtained a bachelors degree in chemistry in 1997. He continued his education at Indiana University and received his Doctorate of Medicine in 2001. Thereafter, he embarked on his orthopedic surgical training at Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis. During his 5 years of residency, he was trained in all aspects of general orthopedics including fracture management, joint replacement, hand surgery, and sports medicine.

He and his wife, Amber, along with their two dogs, enjoy hiking, camping, and travel. He also spends his time snowboarding, mountain biking, and cruising the back roads of Indiana on his Harley-Davidson.



 
Timothy M. Steiner, M.D.

Dr. Steiner is happy to return to his native Indiana after six years of training away from home. He was born and raised in Carmel, Indiana and graduated with highest distinction from Purdue University’s School of Mechanical Engineering. He graduated from Indiana University School of Medicine and went on to an orthopedic surgery residency at Wayne State University and the Detroit Medical Center.

Dr. Steiner is coming to us from The Cleveland Clinic, where he is completing fellowship training in sports medicine. During his time in Cleveland, he was a physician for the Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Cavaliers, and Cleveland Indians professional sports organizations. In addition, he was team physician for John Carroll University (NCAA Division III) and Cleveland Public Schools. He has published several works, including original research and book chapters, and is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and the American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine. He specializes in minimally invasive arthroscopic procedures of the knee, shoulder, elbow, and ankle, as well as general care of the injured athlete.

Dr. Steiner will be moving to Bloomington with his wife, Jill, their two children, Jack and William, and golden retriever, Murphy. He is an accomplished cyclist and is looking forward to exploring the roads and trails of southern Indiana.



 
Brian R. Murer D.C.
 

Brian Murer comes to Orthopedics of Southern Indiana from Parker College of Chiropractic in Dallas, Texas. Brian offers non-surgical treatment options through chiropractic care and Active Release Techniques (ART®). ART is a patented technique used to diagnose and treat soft tissue injuries and utilized by many professional and Olympic athletes. 

Dr. Murer, an Indiana native, attended Southern Methodist University on a track and field scholarship. After graduation, he continued to compete at the national and international level as a hammer thrower with the highlight coming when he served as the alternate on the 1996 Olympic team in Atlanta. 

Dr. Murer lives in Bloomington with his wife, Jenni, their 6 year-old son Jack, and new daughter, Annie.

 



 
Nathan T. Baynes, PA

Nathan Baynes was born and raised in Ellettsville on his family's dairy farm.  He and his wife, Heidi, live in a house they built themselves, just one quarter mile from the family farm.  They have a two year old daughter, Madeline, and welcomed a new addition to their family, Samuel, in January 2007.

Nathan received his training as a Physician Assistant at Butler University.  He has practiced in orthopedics and in urgent care prior to joining OSI.

Nathan enjoys time with his family, traditional woodworking, snow skiing and helping run the family farm.



 
Jayne Crescimbeni-Pierce, NP-C
Jayne Crescembeni-Pierce, a registered nurse for 19 years, earned her Masters in Nursing from the Univerisity of Florida in 1996.  As the office nurse practioner, she compliments the staff by helping see new and established patients, reviewing and ordering diagnostic tests, and completion of pre-admission history and physical examinations. She has served as a medical volunteer for both the 1996 Atlanta and 2000 Sydney Olympic Games, and was chosen to carry the Olympic torch for the 2002 Winter Games in Salt Lake City.  She is married and has three children.

 
Tom Kelzer PT, ATC
Tom has been in Bloomington, Indiana since 1985.  His background prior to arriving was in education, teaching for three years in Wisconsin.  He graduated from Indiana University with a Masters in Physical Education and Athletic Training in 1988.  He continued his studies at IU School of Medicine's Physical Therapy Program and received his PT degree in 1992.  Upon graduation, he started practicing at Bloomington Hospital's REBOUND for 11 years.  He joined the OSI Team in the fall of 2003.  Tom's background as a Physical Therapist / Athletic Trainer has focus on orthopedics, sports medicine, orthotics and total joint replacement rehabilitation.

Tom and his wife, Roberta, have three children - Sarah, Hannah and Jacob.  They are all very active in their church, community and athletics.  Outside of work, the Kelzers enjoy traveling north to Minnesota and Wisconsin to visit family.  Tom is a sports enthusiast, woodworker and enjoys the outdoors.

Tom is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association, Indiana Physical Therapy Association, National, Athletic Trainers Association and the Indiana Athletic Trainers Association.



 
Chuck Meeks, PTA

Chuck is a native of Indiana, born in Linton and raised in Sandborn, IN, graduating as Salutatorian of Chrisman High School's 1986 class.

 

He graduated Cum Laude from Indiana State University in 1990 with a Bachelor of Science in Sports Management while Minoring in Business.  Chuck later completed the University of Indianapolis' Physical Therapist Assistant program.


Chuck and his wife Tina have 2 children, Kaitlyn and Caleb, along with their 6 pets: 3 dogs, 1 cat, 1 bird, and 1 hamster.  He is a self proclaimed homebody that likes spending time with his family and working on home improvement projects.  Hobbies include riding his motorcycle, singing with the radio, playing golf and softball.


He and his wife are active in their community, leading small group activities for their church, Ellettsville Christian.



 
Kevin Kathman, OT R/L

Kevin Kathman has called Bloomington home since 1998 when he completed an active duty stint in the Navy Medical Service Corps.  He has been an occupational therapist since 1988 upon graduation from Eastern Kentucky University.  He completed his internships at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville TN and Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta GA.  In addition to the Navy, his experiences include work at Washington University Medical Center in St. Louis after graduation, rural healthcare in Kentucky in the early to mid 1990’s, the Indiana Hand Center in the late 1990’s and Bloomington Hospital for the past 6 years.  He has also served as an Army Reservist OT and enjoys volunteering in his community.  He is currently pursuing a clinical Doctorate in OT through Creighton University. 
Kevin and his wife Julie just celebrated their 18th wedding anniversary and are blessed with seven children ages 1 to 15.
