Orthopedics of Southern Indiana is dedicated to caring for injured athletes, from the high school superstar to the weekend warrior. Unlike many orthopedic practices, all of our doctors are orthopedic surgeons. As such, our doctors have at least 5 years of musculoskeletal training and are able to evaluate and treat sports injuries. As Bloomington’s only physician certified by the ABOS in both Orthopedic Surgery and Sports Medicine, Dr. Steiner is available to consult on complex injuries.
In conjunction with Bloomington Hospital and Rebound rehabilitation, OSI has made significant contributions to the Bloomington sports community. In 2007, OSI led a successful campaign to put AEDs at local high school athletic facilities. In 2008, OSI started walk-in Saturday morning injury clinics for athletes. In 2009, OSI led the Bloomington community in implementation of IMPACT concussion testing in local high schools. In 2010, Dr. Steiner co-founded the Southern Indiana Sports Medicne Network with other competing local sports medicine physicians in an effort to improve sports medicine in our local schools.
In addition to volunteering time for local high schools, our doctors also give their time to the IU club sports of Rugby and Hockey.
During the football season of August through October, Orthopedics of Southern Indiana has a walk-in sports clinic from 8-10 AM on Saturday mornings for injured student-athletes. Please call for details.
We strive to see acute sports injuries within 24 hours, and same day appointments are often available.
Please call 812-333-BONE (2663) to schedule an appointment. Mention that you have an “acute sports injury”.
